Let us Dance in the Sun
When I made this work I was thinking about the cicadas who live underground in isolation for up to 18 years before emerging for a brief, reckless time where they fly in the sun, singing to prospective mates. Let us Dance in the Sun uses the sacred Flower of Life geometry as a scaffold for my ongoing exploration of the sculptural possibilities of using hand made paper.
Materials: Hand made and artisanal Papers with burning tool, white gold leaf, cicada wings, bees wax, lacemaking pins, beads. 2023.
