‘Beneath this sky’ 2012-2015

Bungaribee Western Sydney

Stainless Steel, etched glass

16m x 7m x 12m (height)

Beneath this Sky was commissioned by Urban Growth NSW in 2012. It is at the entrance to a playground and community space in Bungarribee, a new residential development in the Blacktown Council area. Before the development, the site was a telecommunications depot which is reflected in the hexagonal shapes and the bee motif, which explore ideas about the ways in which bees harness their power of communication and collaboration to form functioning communities. Bee hives produce no waste, instead, honey and wax are the byproduct of their activities.
